S.K.I.A. (After school)
Purpose: To impact the academic, social, and emotional needs of students from low income homes by providing mentoring, tutoring, homework assistance, enrichment activities, outings, and life skill training.
Our program is Monday-Friday and we serve students from Mountain View, North Side, Fairmont, and Indian Trail.
Our students are brought to The Refuge from school where they are given a snack, get help with their homework, have a special class each day, and are fed a healthy dinner.
Purpose: To have fun and learn to be a man or woman of character who does right. We prepare students for post high school education, training, or college.
Purpose: To match under-resourced youth and children with a caring adult from the community in a long term mentoring relationship.
Mentors encourage kids to realize their potential and better equip them for a successful future.
One of the biggest misconceptions about being a mentor is that it means being a “perfect” role model. What it really means is being a friend and sharing what you enjoy about life with a child.
