Caroline Kangwa moved to the United States in 2000 and then in 2007 moved to Tennessee. Caroline is a single mom to three of our SKIA kids: George and Georgia are twins and will be in the 6th grade and Darrell will be in the 9th grade.
Caroline is also a full time nursing student at Milligan College and has experienced firsthand the benefits and blessings of being connected with Rise Up! This past year, Caroline experienced many obstacles, including a broken wrist, divorce and financial hardships that could have brought her down, yet, as she so eloquently stated, “I rise up every morning because of Rise Up! and I find the strength and hope for my family to face the future. I really could not have made it without you!”
George, Georgia and Darrel consider Rise Up! to be their home away from home; one that they do not like to leave when Caroline picks them up early.
This year all three children have been matched with a couple who have decided to mentor them together!
Their mentors are also a huge source of encouragement for Caroline. Caroline is forever grateful for the consistency and stability that the Rise Up! staff offer to her family. The role models and love are irreplaceable.
